The Season of Seperation

By Lynn Milligan | August 20, 2026

Summer for basketball players must be The Season of Separation. This is the time for individual development and growth on and off the court. A time to do the little things and to add to your game and growth as a person. I had the privilege of working with so many terrific young ladies that understood this and are ready for breakout seasons. My GOAL for them is always to become 1% better every day with their Heart and Soul to stay 1 Step Ahead.

MY 10 QUICK SUMMER OBSERVATIONS (after a summer of camps/clinic and individual trainings in no particular order):

1. I had the privilege of working with some amazing young players and coaches this summer!

2. YOU must create HABIT and ROUTINES

3. Summer can not only give you exposure but can also get you exposed

4. I had the privilege of working with some amazing young players and coaches this summer!

5. I believe kids want to get better - shout out to all my young ladies that worked with me and GOT BETTER! When kids meet you at the park in the afternoon on a 95 degree day - they want to get better and I am here for it!

6. We need to continue to build up young women - period. There is too much negative self talk. Positive Self Talk matters because negative self talk is alive and well

7. Preparation creates confidence - not me. Always fall back on your training. Believe in what you are doing and the work you are doing everyday.

8. Boring = GREAT Fundamentals matter

9. Repetition breeds Success

10. You must do things over and over again not til you get it right but until you can’t get it wrong.

*Looking forward to a great fall to create the next step for these players. Let's get to work.
